Audiobooks and eAudiobooks

The Cerritos Library offers a collection of Audiobooks (books on CD) that features best-sellers. The collection is located in the Multimedia area on the first floor.

The Cerritos Library also offers eAudiobooks through the cloudLibrary, eBooks for All California, and hoopla services.

cloudLibrary

The cloudLibrary™ is easy to use and offers intuitive browsing, reading and listening. eAudio books can be borrowed and downloaded with one click.

The cloudLibrary™ service can be used on Apple devices and computers, Android tablets and phones, Kindle Fire tablets, Chromebooks and personal computers. (The cloudLibrary™ is not available on Kindle eReaders such as Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Voyage.) The cloudLibrary™ app is available for download from the App Store or Google Play.

eBooks for All California

Cerritos Library cardholders can access eBooks for All California, a collection of more than 40,000 eBooks and audiobooks. This free service offers fiction and non-fiction materials for all ages and is made possible by the California State Library.

The collection can be accessed through the Palace Project app. To access the app, visit the app store (on iOS or Android) and search for The Palace Project. Install and open the app and search for Cerritos Library. You will then need to enter your Cerritos Library card barcode number and PIN. You can then browse all the titles of eBooks or audiobooks in the collection, check out titles, and begin reading or listening.

The loan period varies from 21 days to perpetual use. Palace Bookshelf/Feedbooks/Standard Ebooks titles are all simultaneous and perpetual use titles that never need to be returned. The checkout timeframe is displayed in the app on the book details page after the item has been checked out and downloaded (underneath where it says Read and Return). If the title has a set checkout period, the ebook or audiobook will automatically return. Books that have the one user at a time type of licensing model can be reserved if all copies are checked out.

hoopla Digital Media Service

The Cerritos Library offers cardholders free access to the hoopla digital media service. Hoopla offers a wide selection of popular e-audiobooks, all available for mobile and online access.

The titles are available to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to smartphones, tablets and computers. The loan period is 21 days.

The service also includes hoopla for kids, a multi-format, digital experience designed especially for kids and families. Hoopla for kids can be accessed through a Kids Mode setting in hoopla.
